LKKHPG has three major policies concerning environment protection: conserving energy, recycling energy and advocating personal engagement in environment protection. Guided by these policies, the company has made innovations in eco-friendly technology, used equipment for environment protection, promoted the recycling of resources and boosted the low-carbon growth of the industry.
The Chinese medicine industry currently produces over 10 million tons of waste. This residue is mostly stacked on dump grounds where they are polluting the surrounding environment. Enterprises in the medicine industry are facing a big challenge: it is time to start recycling and reduce the negative impact of all this waste on the environment.
Confronted with this daunting task, LKKHPG used its technological advantages to do research on recycling of Chinese medicine waste.
Since July 2010, the R&D Center of the company has joined hands with companies and institutes including South China Agriculture University, Guangdong Institute of Microbiology and Guangdong Tiandi Food Group. Together they have been conducting research on the integrated use of Chinese medicine waste, and established the Infinitus Demonstration Base for the Recycling of Chinese Medicine Waste. Since then, they have conducted many scientific experiments like using the waste as feed for earthworm and pigs, or as a fertilizer in growing edible fungi. The successful experiments have been industrially applied.
In December 2011, it was clear that the integrated use of medicine waste had positive effects on the environment. In the LKKHPG spirit of constant entrepreneurship, more research was conducted with the support of excellent R&D facilities. The nutrition-enhanced waste medicine was used to feed pigs until they could be processed into preserved hams of superior quality and taste.
The implementation of this project was rewarding and led to a technology platform based on recycling economy. The successful transformation of otherwise wasted medicine into useful raw materials is a notable example of recycling resources.
